Jackson, by Holly Wilde

Bright as the sun.

Deep as the ocean.

Beautiful and carefree.

Dancing. Smiling. Giggling.

Eyes full of question.

Mind full of hope.

Dreaming. Believing. Loving.

Soul full of spirit.

Body full of life.

Questioning. Forgiving. Freeing.

No hatred towards one.

Heart full of love.

Beautiful.

Innocent.

My Hero.

My Life.

Legs, by Kabntsig Xiong

My dear legs

That support me

Take me places and hold me high

Do as I request; rather it’s wet or dry

The glory of heels and the pain of sharp glasses

Only resting as I sit or sleep,

The weights you carry,

The blood you shed and bruises you share

I remembered them.

So dear feet,

Thanks for being there for me.

All the Tears, by Terrance West

All the tears,

and all the crying.

All the days with all the lying

All the fears

And

All alone

Holding together all I’ve known.

All the faces that are supposed to care

turn their backs and leave you there.

Do you wonder why it happens that way,

The same old mistake you can’t take away.

Every word is a lie,

That’s what they say, the bitter and grey

My god what a shame.

Do you hold out hope for those better days to come and rescue you before you go insane.

Do you praise the lord for all of the pain, that help to change you in unexplained ways.

These People I Love, by Gage Stewart

People are my drug of choice. They fuck you up

They fuck you.

Treat you loving you madly! Gladly!

Or beat you breaking you badly.

They intimidate with a confident glance.

They create paranoia

Then tense up the body,

Creating an empty space in the mind waiting to be filled with the worst possible outcome.

People are a bet with your mind.

People are a euphoric blossom of love

Embracing you

Tracing you, a stencil on the board.

That one person, whats’er name?

She got you so high once your vessel actually soared!

People are a droplet you place on your tongue

To make you want to smile, sing songs that need to be sung!

People make you cry

Laugh

Or die.

Even make you wait awhile

A speck of dust on a dirty tile.

Not to say you don’t know this of course

For we are all addicts with brown and black smudges of remorse.

We’ve all gotten that bad batch

And no one is to blame, that shit is hard to catch.

But the good ones you want to frame.

12”x12” portrait on the wall

Say, “Yea, that was my drug. We got fucked up and experienced it all.”

They take you on a journey of eternal thanks of being.

Open the doors to things in life you’ve never thought of seeing.

People are my drug of choice

Their story

Their voice.

But I’ve been sober now for hours.

Mistakes

We live our lives day after day

We’ve all had things in life that we wish we hadn’t done

Things that have happened as result of others’ actions

Things we have no control over,

due to not being able to change the past

All we have is our ability to control our present,

and our future;

These things, we call, Mistakes

You cannot run away from your mistakes,

As they will live with you,

In the back of your mind like a constant reminder;

Hoping to find your peace of mind,

Is a needle in a haystack

There is no peace of mind,

You can only ease it away,

But it’s always there

It’s a constant knocking on your head,

Telling you to hide yourself,

Don’t let them in,

Because you made a mistake to be hurt.

Even others, they have other problems,

More so like

Not letting your own family in,

Hiding yourself farther and farther in the darkness,

To soon be overwhelmed and feel hopeless.

These things we cannot change,

But for us to move forward,

We must move on from our past mistakes,

Even if they were not our own fault or reasoning to.

Worst things you can do, is to hide away,

Not ever trying again,

Not letting the ones who mean the most to you truly in,

Drinking the pain away,

Getting high every day to ease your mind as they destroy your inside,

Even suicidal attempts.

Nothing in our power will change the past,

Only to what we do with changing our present,

And our future.

KING SAGGITARIUS, by Kiandria Harris

A zodiacal Constellation between scorpion and Capricorn

Determination for knowledge, Envied, hated with illogical excuses

Being righteous and royally born, Careworn

Simply irresistible to my existable being, king

To my queen, jack to my ace, face to my face

Is where I want to be incompatible, with this

Worldly place we call home, makes me feel

All warm and tingly inside, finally have some-

One to call my own

Between the 240th & 270th degree of Celestial

Longitude matched with the 210th & sharing the

240th degree of celestial longitude

Outwardly reflective, selective when it comes to

Life, strongly, undoubtfully, willfully, and wonderfully

Made, wishing you were duplicated twice

Lyrics n flow are so nice n I love the way those lips talk

To the mic,Your words enter my mouth like a lyrical

Substance, taking over my mind, making me spit up

Non acceptable lyrical abusive nonsense, speaking

Life into the atmosphere for the period in time of

This hemisphere, letting ya fans know you care,

Dare you to rap a whack dance song n although

Hip hop won’t last long in this next generation,

You won’t be the first and you won’t be wrong

Speak the truth, it’s what you do

Spitting flow down like an atomic bomb

Letting the world know you’re the chosen one

It’s like tomorrow can be seen, but not

Touched, stared at and gazed at like the sun;

Light of the world, like values admired and not stored

A tsunami in a hurricane storm, saggitarius cozy and warm

November 27th a star was born

Phoenix Now, Issue 3: Reawakening

Phoenix Now–Issue 3–Reawakening

“Dare I Become?” by Donald H. Schambow

Creative fires smolder,
rekindle,
blaze uncontrolled,
subside into glowing coals.
Then once more roar
with threatening ferocity.

Dare I walk into the fire?
Dare I allow myself
to be consumed,
and emerge, reborn,
the one I will become
